FBI Fails To Inform Pres. Bush Of 9-11 Attack Plan
“The
FBI failed to inform President Bush of specific plans to fly commercial
airliners into U.S. landmarks”, said Charles Key, director of The
Oklahoma Bombing Investigation Committee and CommonSense
Justice.
The information was obtained in 1995 when the
laptop computer of Ramsey Yousef, an Iraqi terrorist, was confiscated
in a raid on his home in the Philippines.
“This information could have kept the
9-11 tragedy from occurring had President Bush been given this
exceedingly important information. Determining how this failure
came about is critical towards protecting the American people in the
future,” stated Key.
The information obtained from the
computers hard drive in 1995 was part of “Project Bojinka” and included
extensive plans to carryout terrorist operations against the United
States. Project Bojinka included hijacking commercial airliners
in the U.S and then flying them into targets such as CIA headquarters.
“This
very specific information along with information obtained by FBI agents
concerning individuals of Middle Eastern decent taking lessons to fly
these big jets should have gone all the way up the ladder,” claimed
Key. In recent months, several FBI agents have gone public with
statements that they were pursuing Middle Eastern suspects but told to
terminate their investigations by superiors.
“It
is time for Congress to implement public hearings. The FBI hasn’t
been audited in over 50 years. This is one more indication of the
need to take a hard look at who is responsible for this colossal
failure.”
